Finally the sun is out again, just in time for my birthday! And like the old woman I am, no girls night out to celebrate. Instead a day trip to Hastings Old Town with my mum and friends because pretty buildings, sun and lunch keeps me happy! I know Hastings like the back of my hand (it’s where I grew up) so I may be slightly biased but I think it’s amazing. When the weather is nice the Old Town comes alive with pubs and bars opening onto the street and people shopping in the mixture of quirky shops, florists, bookshops and antique shops. Plus it is only 1.5 hours from London Charing Cross, making it the perfect day trip for those wanting to experience a traditional English seaside town.
To start the day had a falafel mezze at Waterfalls which was amazing and lemon drizzle cake for dessert which was equally amazing. Afterwards we headed for The Old Town, wandering along George Street and The High Street which is where I took the majority of these pictures. We were lucky with the weather so sat outside with a drink and people watched, enjoying the liveliness of many Old Town locals! Towards the end of the day, on our way back to the station, we caught the sunset over the pier.
