If you are a local you will know there is certainly no shortage of Vegan options in Camden Market. Everywhere I looked were signs like ‘Best Vegan Ice Cream’, ‘All Vegan’ or one that made me half laugh, half cringe ‘I’m Vegan, Bite Me’. I was running around salivating at every stall, spoilt for choice! As a vegetarian who doesn’t like that taste of cheese, finding something to eat can be a bit of a faff. 9 times out of 10 veggie options are cheesy, I think because people don’t know what else to give us! So often I go for the vegan option if there is one.
My friends and I ended up going to Camden Market twice… lunch Saturday and hangover food Sunday and between us we had some delicious food. We also ate at a Vegetarian/Vegan restaurant called Mildreds which is in Camden. If you haven’t been, 100% drop what you are doing and go! There are a few others in London, one in Dalston and near Kings Cross for example. I had the ‘chicken’ burger which was yummy though the curries are nicer! The star of the show (for me anyway) are the deserts, all are divine.

Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner – American Vegan Diner. This was our Sunday hangover treat. Vegan burgers, hotdogs, slaw, mac&cheese and skin on fries. It was perfect, not going to lie and so inexpensive. If I remember correctly you got a main, chips and soft drink for £10. My burger was actually nicer than the one I had in Mildreds (so many burgers and literally no shame). My friend Grace had the hotdog and said it was delicious. Also, they sell Ms. Cupcake cakes which if you haven’t heard of it is an amazing vegan bakery in Brixton.
Young Vegans – Pie and Mash Shop. I have heard a lot about Young Vegans pie shop but because of all the other food didn’t actually get a pie. But their Instagram looks amazing and it is top of my list for next time. Instead I got a dark chocolate cookie and it was pretty special.
Maize Blaze – Colombian Street Food. I’ve saved the best until last. Colombian Street Food is now on my radar and will be staying there. This plate of food was incredible. You have potato sautéed in spices, kidney beans, garlic rice, pickled red cabbage, guacamole, spring onions, fried plantain, lots of coriander, fresh chilli and lettuce. I can’t wait to eat this again. They also had a non-veggie option for those of you who would prefer it.
